Chimney Sweeping

Mess-Free Chimney Sweeping Is A Trinity Chimney Service Specialty!

Our team specializes in the sweeping of chimneys, fireplaces, vents, and solid fuel-burning appliances to remove soot and light creosote deposits within the flue lining. While a standard sweeping will not remove glazed, caked, or layered creosote deposits, it can get rid of any other buildup or blockages. And if you’re keeping up with chimney sweepings and making them a regular part of your home maintenance plan, glazed creosote shouldn’t be a problem anyway.

The chimney liner should be swept annually if it is used once or more in a given year. If you use your fireplace or stove a lot, you may need to schedule cleanings more frequently.

One thing you can do is check for buildup yourself and schedule a cleaning anytime you have a soot accumulation of 1/8” or more and anytime you spot shiny, glazed creosote inside the flue. You can also schedule an inspection for a more thorough evaluation. We’ll get a good look at the flue lining and let you know when we recommend a chimney cleaning.

The reason that all fire safety organizations recommend chimney sweepings is that buildup, like creosote and soot, and blockages, like nesting animals, can decrease performance and safety. These are some of the things that can result from a dirty chimney or venting system:

  • smoky fireplace
  • chimney fire
  • carbon monoxide exposure/poisoning
  • damaged/corroded flue lining

Annual chimney sweepings can remove all of the buildup and blockages so that your chimney system stays in great condition and the attached appliance works as safely and as efficiently as it should.

Trinity Chimney Sweeping is as easy as 1-2-3

The team of Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA)-certified chimney sweeps here at Trinity Chimney Service takes pride in ensuring your home is soot-free throughout the whole sweeping process. Our use of vacuums and tarps allows for the dust and soot to be concentrated in the firebox or appliance area, and we work hard to ensure debris will not escape those areas.

Our professionals will start with a level 1 inspection as defined by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). We will need to access the roof to inspect the exterior of the chimney or vent, but the rest of the sweeping service will be completed from inside the home.

Next, we’ll sweep your chimney. It’s actually best to sweep from the bottom, rather than from the top, and the use of a rotary style power sweeping method allows us to remove extra soot and creosote deposits that the brush style from the roof would not remove.

After the sweeping is completed, we’ll use a premier video camera to scan the flue lining, and encourage you, the homeowner or tenant, to watch with us so you can see the results of our work for yourself — instead of just taking our word for it.
